Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 28, 1971.

The lower half combines the red and silver bends of the Urleinsberg family with a fleur-de-lis for the Niederburg Abbey. The lily is the symbol of St. Mary, patron saint of the abbey. The family had many possessions in the municipality in medieval times. The upper half shows a saltbarrel, as the village was on the main salt trading routes, the name also means salt-road.
