The eel symbolises the Marne river. The three fleur-de-lis and the small bar are the arms of the Princes of the Condé, to which the area historically belonged.

Th elower half shows the symbols of the former Benedictan Abbey of St. Maur, a wreath of thorns and three nails for the crucifixion, the word Pax (Peace) and a small fleur-de-lys (for France).
