SAINT-GEORGE

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de Saint-George (Vaud)

Official blazon

De gueules au saint Georges d'or terrassant un dragon de sable.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1923.

In 1822 already, the local inn had a rider on its sign. A century later, after the mobilization of 1914-1918, the town offered its soldiers a medal showing a Saint George killing the legendary dragon.

In 1923, the canting saint from this medal was taken as a municipal coat of arms, with the colours of Aubonne, chief town of the district.
