Origin/meaning

The Shield show the Coat of Arms of the namegiver founder in 1652 of what later become the city of Cape Town. The Ship was the former Destroyer HMS Wessex tranferred to South Africa in 1950. Where she was later converted to a fast Antisubmarine Frigate and later served as a Training Ship. Decomminissioned in 1975.
