Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1970.

The arms are based on the old arms of the district Landau. The lion is the lion of the Pfalz, the cross is taken from the arms of Speyer and the grapes as well as the white bar symbolise the Weinstrasse. The crown is taken from the arms of the district Bergzabern.
