German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

SÄCKINGEN (SÄK)

State : Baden-Württemberg
Incorporated into : 1973 Waldshut and parts to Lörrach

Sackinge.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1966.

The right part shows the crosier as a symbol of the H. Fridolin, who founded the abbey and village of Säckingen in the 6th century. The left part shows a lightning as a symbol for the power plants in the district. The colours of the crosier are the colours of Baden, the colours of the lightning are those of Austria, as the area historically belonged to both Baden and Austria.
