Official blazon

Escudo de prata, livro de vermelho, realçado de ouro, carregado de três besantes do mesmo, em roquete e encimado de uma mitra de púrpura, realçada e forrada de ouro, em ponta dois ramos de oliveira de verde, frutados de negro, com os pés passados em aspa. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro em maiúsculas : “ SANTARÉM – S. NICOLAU “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 15, 1997.

The mitre, book and three balls refer to the local patron saint, St. Nicholas. The olive branches symbolise the importance of olive oil for the parish.
