Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 19th, 1951.

The green represents the Sinos River where the first German immigrants settled in July 1824 and the river that represents the main waterway in the Sinos Valley. The red part shows the coat of arms of the Margrave of São Leopoldo, the one responsible for the foundation of the city. In the blue part there is the monument for the German immigrants, created in 1924.
