Coat of arms (crest) of Ry

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1981.

The arms refer to the many lakes and streams in the municipality, with a grebe swimming on a wavy base. The arms were designed after a local competition, which resulted in 66 different designs.

Coat of arms (crest) of Ry

The arms show the monogram of King Christian III, who was crowned in Ry church in 1534. The staff symbolises the large Øm monastery and the seven leaves symbolise the seven lakes in the municipality.
