RUDERTING

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Passau

Wappen von Ruderting/Arms (crest) of Ruderting
Official blazon
German

Gespalten von Silber und Blau; über einem durchgehenden Wellenbalken in verwechselten Farben vorne eine blaue heraldische Lilie, hinten ein silberner Wolfsrumpf.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 18, 1980.

The blue fleur-de-lis is the symbol of the Fugger family (later Counts Gugger), that owned the large estate of Schöllnstein in the municipality until the 19th century. It is also the symbol for St. Joseph, the local patron saint and a rare plant, sibirische Schwertlilie (I don't know the English name) that grows in the area. The wolf is taken from the arms of the State of Passau, to which part of the municipality historically belonged.
