The Badge is based on the colour presented to the Midshipman's Corps in 1904 by Queen Wilhelmina. The Motto translates as "We are and Hope to Be". The Badge was approved 26 July 1954, when the Insitute celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In keel en klaar stokanker van goud, beladen met de gestileerde hoofletter W en gedekt met de Koninklijke kroon, alles van hetzelfde. Ale embleeemspreuk SUMUS ET FORE SPERAMUS (wij zijn en hopen te worden) in Latiijnse letters van goud op een lint van keel.
