Province : Tarragona

Escudo de Riudecanyes

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 2, 1997.

These arms are canting: the name Riudecanyes means literally in Catalan "river of reeds". The town was the centre of the barony of Escornalbou since 1387 (you can see the baron's crown at the top of the arms). The prior's staff at the back reminds the monastery of Sant Miquel d'Escornalbou, that ruled the barony.
