Official blazon

Escudo de prata com seis faixetas ondadas de azul, carregado de um escudo de prata , com uma cruz latina de azul, firmada no chefe, na ponta e nos flancos. O escudo apresenta uma bordadura de azul, carregada de quatro estrelas de oito pontas de ouro, acantonadas no chefe e na ponta. Coroa mural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco, com os dizeres : " RESENDE ", de negro.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 15, 1984.

The stars are taken from the arms of Egas Moniz, Lord of Resende, the cross is the arms of the first King, Alfonso Henrique, both played a major role in the local history.

The waves indicate the many rivers which originate or flow through the municipality.
