Origin/meaning
Reinheim received city rights around 1300 and was a loan of the Counts of Katzelelnbogen until 1479. All seals and images of the arms show the arms of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen.
In the 1956 different were proposed (see below), in which the arms were divided with in the lower field a silver bar in a blue field. This was added to distinguish the arms from those of Katzenelnbogen. The local council however, opted for the historical arms, with only a lion.
