RÜBENACH

State : Rheinland-Pfalz District (Kreis) : until 1969 Koblenz
Incorporated into : 1970 Koblenz

Wappen von Rübenach/Arms (crest) of Rübenach
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1935.

The lion in the upper half of the arms is derived from the arms of the Lords Eltz von Rübenach, who acted as vassals for the Counts of Luxembourg in the early 14th century. The lower half shows the cross of the State of Trier, as the town has been a possession of the archbishops of Trier from 1419 until 1803.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
