.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 24, 1948. The quartering of the shield symbolises the old partition of Rättvik into the four parts of Västerbygge, Sörbygge, Gärdsjö and Ovanhed.

The axe symbolises St Olof, patron of the Rättvik church. The arrows from the arms of Dalarna symbolises that people from Rättvik, saved Gustav Eriksson (Vasa) the future King of Sweden, during his flight through the province in 1520.
