QUERFURT (QFT)

Incorporated into : 1994 Merseburg-Querfurt (2007 Saalekreis)
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 31, 1934.
The arms are identical to the arms of the Lords of Quertfurt (later counts of Mansfeld). The Lords zu Quertfurt were of rather great importance as Markgraves of Magdeburg and also as Imperial councellors. The original family became extict in 1496.
