The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city (German name Prausnitz), known from the 14<sup>th</sup> century. The eagle is taken from the arms of Silezia, the meaning of the hand is not known. It may be a symbol of justice, or taken from the arms of some local family. Hupp showed the arms with the eagle with red beak and claws, see below.
