Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 16th June 1983.

The roses in the arms are a canting element: they allude to the name Prats ("meadows" in Catalan). The royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) symbolize that it was a royal town: the king Alphonse I granted its chart in 1188; in fact, Els Prats de Rei means literally "The King's Meadows".
