PORTUGUESE ARMY
(1815 Pattern) |
(Later Pattern) |
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The Field is Gules, the Lion Or holding a Sword Argent hilt and pommel Argent. The Crest is the same. The Mantling Gules doubled Argent.
Today the Coat of Arms has added above the Crest a Scroll with the Cri-de-Guerre "Portugal e São Jorge" = "Portugal and St George". The Coat of Arms symbolises the Army defending Portugal.
