Unter rotem Schildhaupt, darin ein waagrechter silberner Bischofsstab, geviert; 1 und 4: silbern, 2: schwarz, 3: rot Origin/meaningThe village and its surroundings were a possession of the Counts of (Hohen)Zollern from 1302-1508. From 1508-1803 it was a possession of the Bishops of Eichstätt. The Bishops, however, had already much influence in the 15th century and the local parish also belonged to Eichstätt. The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1486 by Emperor Friedrich III and combine the quartered shield of the Hohenzollern family with the crosier for Eichstätt. The crosier was removed in 1819, but the old arms were restored in 1836 and have not changed since.
