PÄRNUMAA

Arms of Pärnumaa

Official blazon

Kuldsel kilbil must püstitõusnud karu, kelle silm, kihvad ja küüned on hõbedased ning keel punane.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 5, 1937 and again on September 26, 1996.

The bear in the arms is a canting element for the old German name (Pernau, Bär=bear in German).
