Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 1, 1980.

The arms are those of the Spanish noble family Rodriguez de Evora y Vega. They acquired most of the present municipality in 1602 and were elevated to Marquesses of Rode (to which the area belonged) in 1682. They were the last Lords of the different villages until the late 18th century.

The previous arms were granted on June 15, 1932.
