Selected collector's items from Germany:

OFTERSCHWANG

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Oberallgäu

Wappen von Ofterschwang

Official blazon

(de) Unter goldenem Schildhaupt, darin drei liegende rote Rauten, gespalten von Rot und Silber; aus einem Dreiberg in verwechselten Farben wachsend eine fünfblütige Alpenrose.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 9, 1961.

The golden chief with the three diamonds is derived from the arms of the former Counts of Königsegg-Rothenfels, who had many possessions in the area. The flower (Alpenrose) is a typical flower of the alpine region. The mountain in the base symbolises the mountains in the area, as well as the importance of these mountains for the local economy (wintersports, forestry). The red and silver finally are derived from the arms of the State of Augsburg, to which the area historically belonged.
