OBERWINTER

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Ahrweiler
Incorporated into : 1969 Remagen

Wappen von Oberwinter/Arms (crest) of Oberwinter
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1936 and are based on the seal dating from 1482 from Lützelwinter. The vine symbolises the importance of viticulture in the area. The two small shields are the arms of the Lords of Tomburg (bars) and the Lords of Landskron (crown). These ruled the village in the 15th century. Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
