State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ludwigsburg (until 1973 Vaihingen)

Oberriex.jpg

Official blazon

In gespaltenem Schild vorne in Gold eine aufrechte schwarze Hirschstange, hinten in Schwarz ein schräglinks gestelltes goldenes Ruder.

Origin/meaning

Oberriexingen was mentioned as a city in the late 13th century. The oldest seal dates from the early 15th century and showed already the deer antler and the rudder. The antler is derived from the arms of Württemberg. The origin of the rudder is not quite clear. Since the late 16th century the two symbols are shown in a divided shield.
