OAKVILLE

Province : Ontario

Arms (crest) of Oakville

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The white/silver tree symbolizes the white oaks associated with the early history of Oakville, which was also the nickname of the founding family of European settlement. The boar's heads, from the arms of the Chisholm clan, allude to William Chisholm, who founded the town in 1827. The water refers to Lake Ontario while the boat represents the early shipbuilding industry.

The Motto "AVANCEZ" is French for "Go Forward". The blue mural crown marks the status of a Borough in Scottish heraldry.
