Official blason

I fält av silver ett rött borgtorn med krenelerad väktargång och spetsig tornhuv.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 6, 1945.

Nyköping was one of Sweden's most important cities in the Middle Ages. The oldest seal of the city dates from 1359 and the arms are based on this seal. The arms thus have not really changed since.
