The village belonged to Deidesheim until 1819 and was known as Niederdeidesheim. Although an old seal of Niederkirchen was known, showing two crossed swords and a star, the village used in the 19<sup>th</sup> century a variation of the arms of <a href=d/deideshe|Deidesheim]], see image below.
