NIEDERKASSEL

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Sieg Kreis
Additions : 1970 Lülsdorf, Mondorf, Rheidt, Stockem, Uckendorf

Wappen von Niederkassel/Arms (crest) of Niederkassel
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 28, 1936 and continued in 1970.

The arms show the (now ruined) castle Lülsdorf, originally a possession of the Counts (later Dukes) of Jülich. The small arms show the arms of the Lords of Lülsdorf, who acted as vassals from 1250-1400. The waves in the base of the shield symbolise the Rhine river.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
