Gespalten; vorne in Silber ein durchgehendes rotes Kreuz, hinter in Silber sechs blaue Balken.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1951 and shows in the right half the cross of the State of Trier, and the bars of the Lords of Neumagen. The latter had a small Estate around the town until 1320. The town and surrounding area belonged to the State of Trier for many centuries. In the late 19th century Hupp accidentally interpreted a seal of Dormagen as a seal of Neumagen. The seal showed St. Michael and a dragon. The Neumagen council adopted this composition as arms and used it until 1951.
In the early 20th century the arms below were shown in the Kaffee Hag albums, showing a totally different composition of both Dormagen and the later arms.
