Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937 to Amt Netphen and were continued in 1970 for Netphen.

The boar is derived from the old seal of the Netphen-Irmgarteichen Council from the 15th century. The upper half shows the lion of Nassau, as the area historically belonged to the county Nassau-Siegen.
