Wappen von Nörvenich/Arms (crest) of Nörvenich
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1962 and confirmed on June 26, 1969.

The upper part shows the lion of the Dukes of Jülich, who ruled the area from 1177-17th century. The origin of the lower lion is unknown. The arms are based on a seal dating from 1556. Older seals show a castle with in front of the gate the arms of Jülich. Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
