Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 28, 1931.

These are the arms of the former council of (Issel)Moregem. The estate had jurisdiction in a large area and was in possession of a large number of families. In 1588 it was promoted to a Barony. The arms appear on the seal of 1694 of the council and show sthe arms of the Spiere family, barons of Moregem at the time.
