Origin/meaning

The oldest known seals of the city date from the first half of the 14th century and these already show the above arms. The arms are identical to the arms of the Counts of Moosburg, who originated from the city and who became extinct in 1281. The colours are those of the family and are known as colours of the city since 1517.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
