Origin/meaning

The arms show in the first quarter the arms of Longwy, as the town historically belonged to the district of Longwy. The second quarter shows the local chapel of St. Martin on a hill (thus a canting field, Mont means mountain). The two stars represent the hamlets of Glaba and Autrux. The third quarter shows a blast furnace and two cog wheels, symbols of industry. The fourth quarter shows the arms of the département Meurthe et Moselle, as the town is one of the district capitals.
