Origin/meaning
The patron saint of the town is Our Lady of Monserrat, one of the many variations of St. Mary. She is represented by the fuchsia-colored rhombus located in the shield’s place of honor or center. The monogram is the “Ave María” monogram consisting of interconnected “A” and “M” often used to represent Mary. The symbol above her monogram is a stylized crown.
