The Marshall Islands are divided into 33 municipalities.
The Republic of the Marshall Islands consists of 30 atolls and 5 islands, which can be divided into two island chains, the Ralik Chain and the Ratak Chain. Administratively, the country is divided into 24 inhabited municipalities, corresponding to the 24 inhabited atolls or islands, where each of them is an electoral district.

The seals shows an angel with outstretched wings symbolizing peace. Behind the angel, there are two islands with an outrigger canoe and a palm tree. On the upper left and right in the shield are a red and white stripe. Behind the shield there is a stylized nautical chart.

In the ring above the shield is the phrase Government of the Marshall Islands, and below, the national motto, Jepilpin ke Ejukaan (Marshallese: "Accomplishment Through Joint Effort").
