MALINTRAT

Département : Puy-de-Dôme

Blason de Malintrat

Official blason

  • (fr) Tranché: au 1er de sable à la tête de lion arrachée d'or, au 2e d'or à la clé de sable posée en fasce; à la bande de vair brochant sur la partition.

Origin/meaning

The village was a possession of the Aycelin de Montaigut family from 1220-1460, it then passed to the Langeac family, who held it until 1728. In 1728 it was sold to Denis Michel de Montboissier, marquis de Pont du Château.

The lion head is taken from the arms of both the Aycelin de Montaigut and the Montboissier families, the bend vair is taken from the arms of the Langeac family.

The key in the lower half symbolises St. Peter, the local patron saint.
