MAILBERG

State : Niederösterreich
District : Hollabrunn

Mailberg.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms already date from the seal of the town from 1671. This seal showed already the Maltese Cross and the quartered shield with the horses. The cross refers to the Order of St. John of Malta, which acquired the local castle in 1146, one of the oldest possessions of the Order in Austria.

The meaning of the horses is not known.
