Wappen von Mähring/Arms (crest) of Mähring

The arms are a combination of the arms of the Cistercian Order, a sword and the symbol of the patron saint.

Mähring was founded and owned by the Cistercian monastery in Waldsassen. In Mähring there was a small local court, and the sword was added to symbolise this court. The spiked-wheel is the symbol of St. Catherine, the patron saint of the village church, which also belonged to the monastery in Waldsassen until 1803.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
