Lysekil kommunvapen

Official blazon

I fält av silver två stolpvis ställda blå fiskar med ryggarna mot varandra och däröver en blå ginstam, belagd med tre sexuddiga stjärnor av silver.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 25, 1905.

The first arms for the new city were adopted on December 6, 1895, but these were never officially granted. The arms showed a golden dolphin in blue.

The stars in the arms from 1905 are taken from an older seal, but also refer to the founder of the town, Admiral Strömstierna (stierna=stjärna=stars). The fish and the blue colour refer to the sea and the importance as a harbour.
