Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1977.

The village historically belonged to the Cistercian Abbey of Lucelle until the French Revolution. The arms are derived from the seal of the abbey from the 18th century, which actually showed the abbey itself. The colours are derived from the very complicated arms shown for the abbey in the 18th century.
