Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 16, 1980.

The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1569 and shows a divided shield with the arms of the two families that jointly ruled the village at the time; the lions and bar of the Blick von Lichtenberg family, and the pale and buckles of the Boos von Waldeck family.

A second seal, known from 1756 shows the image of the local patron saint, St. Stephanus. The present arms show the arms as shown on the 16^th century seal, and an escutcheon with three stones, the symbol of St. Stephanus.
