Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 26, 2007.
The red and silver are the colours of the State of Mainz, as well as the Eichsfeld Region. The area is situated in the Eichsfeld and was historically part of Mainz. The wavy pale refers to the Leine and Wipper rivers, both which originate from the municipality.
The arms further symbolises the castles Bodenstein and Scharfenstein.
