LAS MARÍAS
Territory : Puerto Rico
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The three trees in the arms are the tree of Mary, a local tree and thus used as a canting symbol. The monogram is again a symbol for the St. Mary. The chain in the bordure is a symbol for the Lares uprising of 1868 against the Spanish occupation.
