Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms where granted on September 7, 1442 by Duke Heinrich the Rich of Bayern, who acquired the town in 1435 from the Lords of Laaber.

The arms are a unique combination of the diamonds of Bayern and the lion of the Pfalz (see the arms of Bayern). The arms have never really changed, except for sometimes the number of diamonds and, in the 19th century, once change of the lion into a sheep's head.
