KROONSTAD

Province: Free State (until 1994 Orange Free State)
District Municipality: Fezile Dabi
Local Municipality : Moqhaka

Arms of Kroonstad
Official blazon
Afrikaans blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

As Kroonstad" literally means "crown town", the crown floating above the shield may well be a canting reference to the name. The supporters are a wildebeest (gnu) and a springbok.

New arms were registered in 1967, and the British crown was changed to a gold mural crown (South Africa had, by then, been a republic for six years).
