Official blazon

  • (fi) Sinisessä kentässä ristikkäin kaksi ylös työntyvää harppuunaa, joiden kärjet hopeaa ja varret kultaa; yläkulmassa saaneena kultainen Mantovan risti.
  • (sv) I blått fält två uppskjutande harpuner i kors, spetsarna av silver, skaften av guld, i övre vinkeln åtföljda av ett mantuanskt kors av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 8, 1968.

The cross (Kors) in the chief and the crossed harpoons are canting elements. The two harpoons symbolise the formerly important seal hunting for the community.
