Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937 and based on the old seal of Kornelimünster.

The seal from 1438 showed the patron saint, St. Cornelius, with his symbol, a drinking horn. In front of the saint there were two small shields, one with the Imperial eagle, as the symbol for the Imperial abbey founded in 814, and the other with two crossed keys. The arms thus show the Imperial eagle and the symbol of the patron saint.
